There once lived a white man named Billy...

...after whom a town was supposedly named. I'll give you one guess as to what it was called. Ready? GO!!!

The answer was Billy White. If you guessed right, you are the proud owner of Vicky's world famous hi 5's. It really is an honor.

Our second clinic was held at Billy White, more specifically at a school in Billy White. This time, my group was doing assessment -- we took care of BP, BG, and giving recommendations as to what the people should do -- get medications, go to the hospital, etc. Thankfully, my group got little to no derm cases, because as interesting as I find derm, I know as much about it as a two year old knows how to drive stick shift.

One of the cases that we had was a middle-aged man and his family, two boys and one girl. He was very anxious to find out what was going on with his boy, because he kept trying to get a boy and the number of boys in Belize is very low, so he wanted to have a boy. After we told him that his son probably had asthma and it could be controlled if he went to the doctor, the man seemed to calm down significantly. He then had a 10 min conversation with us all about his life situation and how he was supposedly framed and was awaiting a court ruling in order to get his job back.

It was very touching to see the trust that this man had in telling all of this to us; I kind of think we acted as therapists to him that day. He has the weight of his whole family riding on his shoulders, and he seemed very stressed. We were all hoping that by opening up to us, that his stress level might be reduced, even if it was only a little.

During our little break, we went to a store and got chocolate covered bananas. They were very delicious.

Overall that second clinic day was pretty good.
